Henderson Sculptural Arts – Biological Projects
A biological feature is a project that is filtered, cleaned and maintained through natural biological means. “Good” bacteria that is introduced into the water after project construction quickly multiplies on/in the filter media, (lava rock or other porous surface or material) as well as other pond elements and rocks which once established consumes other “bad” bacteria, and other algae organisms which can cloud the water and attach itself to all pond surfaces.
Projects can be built with real rock placed on top of rubber lines, (top of page) or with faux or artificial rock, (rebar and concrete) show directly above. In both cases the process of filtration is the same. “Filterfalls” or “Biofalls”, UV & bog filters and skimmers help keep the water healthy. When built correctly they require minimal care and maintenance similar to a swimming pool. And can even be used to swim in, (see above).
This project was built the same way a swimming pool is built. Rebar and concrete with the addition of real rocks mixed with artificial/faux rock.
